Obituary

Julia Fields, born on May 30, 1926, in Durham, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 99. At the time of her passing, she resided at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, where she spent her final years surrounded by caring staff and sweet Friends.

Julia was a woman of deep faith, whose life was a testament to her Christian beliefs. Her devotion to her religion was evident in every aspect of her life, always eager to share her knowledge and wisdom of the Bible with those around her. She was a proud military wife, supporting her husband, Thurman, throughout his service. Together, they built a family grounded in love and faith. She was also a devoted mother, cherishing her role and nurturing her son with unwavering dedication.

Those who knew Julia will remember her not only for her strong faith but also for her impeccable sense of style. She took pride in being well-dressed and had a keen eye for fashion, a trait that added to her graceful presence.

Julia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thurman Leon Fields, her son, Carter Leon Fields, her mother, Felsie Crabtree Carter, her father, Julian Adkins Carter, her brother, Johnny Carter, and her sister, Mary Carr. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In accordance with Julia's wishes, A private graveside service will be held at a later date to honor Julia's memory and celebrate her life. Her friends, James Frazelle  and David Maurer extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for the loving care and support provided during her last two and a half years without Thurman.

Julia Fields will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
