Joseph E. Johnson, Jr., 88, of Willow Street, PA and formerly of Strasburg passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.  He was the husband of Laura Carlile Johnson who died on September 22, 2007. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Elizabeth Louise Leeds Johnson, Sr.

A retired school teacher and guidance counselor, Joe started the football program serving as the first head football coach for Lampeter-Strasburg School District.  He was most recently a member of Lampeter Church of the Brethren and was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg (with his wife Laura) where he served as a trustee.

Joe was an avid shooter at Morr's Indoor Shooting Range.

He is survived by 3 sons, Daniel D. (Colleen) Johnson, Joseph E. Johnson III, David L. (Dianne) Johnson; 2 daughters, Linda S. (Dennis)Young, Cindy L. Lutz; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a sister Elizabeth Louise Kellar.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00AM with a visitation from 10:00AM until the time of service.
