Jose Algarin, Sr.

Jose Algarin Sr., age 68 of Nottingham, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was the wife of Rosa Rivera Algarin with whom he celebrated 49 years of marriage. He was born in Puerto Rico, son of the late Leandro and Aida Pantoja Algarin. Jose proudly service in The United States Navy from 1978-2006 when he retired. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, telling jokes, helping others, but most of all spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife are 2 children: Jose Algarin Jr. and Evelyn R. Martinez, 4 grandchildren: Sammy Algarin Jr., Gabriel, Krystian, and Athena, and 8 siblings: Angelo, Reinaldo, Andre, Felix Sr., Leandro Jr. Wigberto, Rosa Andino, and Esther Algarin. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Algarin, and 3 siblings: Hector, Edwin, and Johnny. 

A Funeral Service will take place from Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 east State Street, Quarryville, PA 17566, on September 21st at 11 a.m.There will be a time to greet the family from 10-11 a.m. Interment and Military Honors will take place in Eastland Friends Burial Grounds. The family asks that those attending the Funeral wear black and white with a tie or bow tie. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his honor to an Alzheimer’s organization of your choice or to Firm Foundation Monuments, 111 Elizabeth Street Christiana PA 17509, towards Jose‘s headstone.
