John U. Lapp

John U. Lapp, 91, of 3621 Holly Drive, Gordonville, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Center, Mt. Joy, on Saturday, August 23, 2025.  Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late Samuel and Lizzie Stoltzfus Lapp.  He was the husband of Barbara Esh Lapp.  They shared almost 67 years of marriage.  John was a member of the Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church which he helped pastor for 45 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 6 children, Samuel married to Katie Miller Lapp, Blackville, SC, Reuben married to Wanda Maust Lapp, Accident, MD,  Mervin married to Ina Coblentz Lapp, Latrobe, PA, Rosella, married to Jason Smoker, Atglen, PA, Viola married to Leonard Orendorf, Accident, MD, Wayne married to Rhoda Zook, Lapp, Burgettstown, PA: 34 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, David married to Lydia Lapp, Kinzers, Jacob married to Suvilla Lapp, Ronks, Reuben married to Anna Lapp, Strasburg, Henry married to Barbie Lapp, Loysville, Amos married to Sadie Lapp, Leola; 2 sisters, Sylvia married to Roy Fisher, Quarryville, Priscilla married to Daniel Kauffman, Honey Brook, He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Anna King, Mattie Lapp, Salome Esch Esh, Rachel Zook Stoltzfus, Sarah Stoltzfus and 2 brothers, Alvin, late husband of Fannie Lapp of Gap and Daniel, late husband of Sylvia Lapp of Mill Hall, PA.

The funeral service will take place from Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, 2900 Church Road, Bird-In-Hand, PA, on Tuesday, August 26th at 10 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday, August 25th from 2-4 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
