John R. Hoffman

John R. Hoffman, 83, of Midway Farms Lane, Lancaster, PA passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Newport Meadows, Christiana, PA.

He was the husband of Susan E. Rankin Hoffman.  Born in York, PA he was the son of the late John Henry and Mabel Elizabeth Barnes Hoffman.

John retired from the former New Holland Machine Company where he was employed as a sales analyst.

He served his country proudly in the US Navy on the USS Pollack during the Vietnam War. Along with his service he was a member of the American Legion Post #34 and the Fleet Reserve Association.

John volunteered as an EMT for 30 years with several ambulance associations.  He also volunteered with the Red Cross Disaster Services and   assisted in setting up the evacuation plan for TMI.

In retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their 40' motor home for 8 years.

Surviving beside his wife Susan, are twin daughters, Terri (Bill) Mitchell, Sherri (Tom) Herr; 5 grandchildren; 2 step children, Toby (Andrea) Eckman, Melissa (Ben) Obenchain; two great grandchildren; and a sister Marilyn Carter of Phoenix, AZ.

A memorial service will be held at Reynolds & Shivery Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00AM. An informal visitation will follow the service.   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011 or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
