John F. Hershey, 83, of Quarryville, PA, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2019, at Hospice & Community Care of Mt. Joy. He was the loving husband of Carolyn L. Hershey (Johnson). John and Carolyn were married for 62 years.
Born in Paradise, PA, John was the son of the late Isaac and Esther (Burkhart) Hershey.
He was an independent milk distributor for the Pensupreme Dairy in Lancaster PA, worked for Century 21 American Heritage Realty as a real estate agent, appraiser and broker. Most recently he owned/managed an apartment building in Quarryville PA.
John cherished time playing board and card games with family and friends. He also enjoyed attending sporting events of his grandchildren. It was common to hear John humming in the kitchen helping to prepare family meals or loading the dishwasher. He made great mashed potatoes.
A longtime member of Wesley Church, John was a Sunday school teacher, served on the board, and was a past president of Rawlinsville Camp Meeting.
He is survived by daughters; Melody Krantz and husband Bill, of Quarryville, PA, Candace Rosenberry and husband Rob, of Ronks, PA, and son Doug Hershey and wife Jill, of Hollidaysburg, PA, and the late Bret Hershey of Baltimore, MD. Grandchildren; Tricia (Krantz) and husband Mark Scott, Rochelle (Krantz) and husband John Price, Isaac Hershey, Rebekah (Hershey) and husband Chris Dickey, Kilee (Rosenberry) and husband Eric Rowits, Keegan Rosenberry and wife Alexa, and Kaylor Rosenberry.
Great Grandchildren; Avery and Autumn Scott, Lydia, Leah and Hezekiah Price, Ivy Rowits and Harper Dickey.
Also surviving is a sister Ruth Book, twin brother Isaac Hershey and brother Jere Hershey. He is preceded in death by sisters; Evelyn Rutt, Miriam Herr, Mary Mellinger and Rhoda Nolt.
There will be memorial service held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Wesley Church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, PA. There will be visitation prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. with service to start promptly at 2 p.m. A light reception will follow the service.
