John N. Gehron, 80, formerly of Cochranville, PA, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where he resided for the past 3 years.He was the loving husband of Louise M. Sizemore Gehron and the couple celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Born in Drumore, PA he was the son of the late John Henry and Helen Good Gehron.
John retired as a steel worker from Lukens Steel after 41 years of employment. He served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War Era.
He was a member of Rough & Tumble Engineers Museum. He enjoyed collecting and restoring older John Deere tractors and spent many hours researching genealogies.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and visiting the cabin in the mountains that he had built. He was a lifelong avid Baltimore Orioles fan.
Surviving beside his wife Louise, he was the loving father and grandfather to his surviving children, Michael (Alberta) Gehron of Cochranville, Nancy (Scott) Silverstein of Lancaster, Robert (Debora) Gehron of Honey Brook; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Betty) Gehron of Peach Bottom; and a sister Elsie Gehron of West Grove.
John was preceded in death by a son John Edward Gehron; 3 brothers, Edward Gehron, Joseph Gehron, James Gehron; and a sister Barbara Carl.
Funeral services will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 12:00Noon with Chaplain Stephen L.
