Joan A. McCartney, age 85 of Christiana, PA, passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.  She was the wife of John J. McCartney, Jr., with whom she would have celebrated 67 years of marriage on September 21st.  She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Francis & Josephine Casey Zeh.  She was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Church, Parkesburg.  In the past Joan worked in the front end department of Dutchway Farm Market of Gap. She volunteered with the Christiana Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, she served as a Cub Scout den mother, and she also enjoyed crafts.  Surviving besides her husband are 2 daughters:  Joanne McCartney of Atglen, Kathleen McCartney at home, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother Jake Zeh of Tennessee.  She was preceded in death by a son John J. McCartney, III.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 12th at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 West 2nd Avenue, Parkesburg, PA, at 10:30 a.m.  Father Sean O'Neill will be officiating.  A visitation will take place at Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m.  Donations can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
