Jere P. Steinbaecher

Jere P. Steinbaecher, 77, of Lancaster died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 following a courageous battle with cancer.He and his wife Miz E. Good Steinbaecher would have celebrated 56 years of marriage on August 25th.Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Paul and Josephine Hahn Steinbaecher.
Jere had worked 35 years for the former Trojan Yacht Company, and then for Zimmerman True Value Hardware in Strasburg for 25 years until his retirement in 2017.
He was a member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church, and a member and past president of Lampeter Jaycee's. He was a 1958 graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School. Jere had earned his Eagle Scout Award with BSA.He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially for Notre Dame, and an avid golfer.
Surviving beside his wife Miz are two daughters, Shelley R. (Marshall) of Mountville, Noelle S.(Matt) Hobson of Christiansburg, VA; 3 grandchildren, Shawn Vitale, Brooke Hobson, Mark Hobson; 3 sisters, Mary Ann (Miles) Martin, Ruth (Paul) Wiker, Paula (Leon) Haefner all of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a sister Kathleen Brokie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00AM with Pastor John Carlson officiating.A viewing will be held at the church on Sunday, August 5th from 4:30 PM-7:00PM. There will be no viewing on Monday. Interment will be in Hershey Mennonite Cemetery, 401 Hershey Church Road, Kinzers, PA on Monday at 9:00AM.
