James Joseph Lewis, age 89 of Kirkwood, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at his home.  He was the husband of the late Dorothy Jean Hess Lewis for 67 years before her passing on December 16, 2022.  Born in Peach Bottom, he was the son of the late Quincy and Clyde Hattie Porter Lewis.  He was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church.  He worked at the family sawmill with his father and brothers until he went in the Army. After working at Wiley's Manufacturing in Port Deposit, he worked at Powell Steel, formerly S.S. Fisher Steel in Willow Street.  In his free time, he loved fishing, woodworking, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his cats and dogs.  Surviving is his daughter; Christine Paxson (John) of Nottingham, 2 grandsons; Tech SGT Ian Paxson, USAF (Maria) of Spokane, WA, Tech SGT Zachary Paxson, USAF of Colorado Springs, CO, a sister-in-law Louise Lewis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Roy, Vernon, Charles "Eddie", and Quincy, Jr. Lewis and a sister, Beatrice Giffing.

A memorial service will take place at Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, on Wednesday, September 13th at 11 a.m.  Pastor Tom Milligan will be officiating.  There will be a time to greet the family following the service during the luncheon.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe's honor to Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA 17563.
