James "Jim" Valotta

James "Jim" Valotta, 66, of West York, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born and raised in Chester County, Jim was the son of Roy J. Valotta Jr. and Joyce A. Steele.

A graduate of Octorara High School, Jim discovered his lifelong passion for automotive body repair during his high school years. That passion grew into a career and ultimately the ownership of West York Truck and Auto Body, where he earned a reputation for custom craftsmanship and attention to detail. His talent was recognized throughout the automotive industry. His motorcycle work was featured in magazines, and his painting expertise was acknowledged by DuPont, providing him with the memorable opportunity to meet NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon. Jim took great pride in his work and found joy in repairing and restoring vehicles with both skill and artistry.

Beyond his profession, Jim will be remembered for his generous heart, his willingness to help others, and the lasting friendships he built throughout his life. He enjoyed sharing stories, working with his hands, hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, and spending time with those he loved.

Jim is survived by his father and mother; his siblings, Rob Valotta and his wife, Darla, of East Earl, and Cathy Taschner and her husband, Doug, of Mohnton. In addition to his father, mother and siblings, Jim is survived by his; two children, two nephews and four great nephews, along with extended family members and many dear friends who will cherish his memory.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Pequea Baptist Church, 6062 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap, PA 17527. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge, 33 Teen Challenge Road, Rehrersburg, PA 19550, or to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) in honor of Jim's memory.

Jim's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the friendships he treasured, and the effort he poured into every vehicle he restored. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
