James E. Boyd, 60, of Quarryville, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior whom he has preached and sang about for many years, surrounded by his wife and children,on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at his home.He was the husband of Deborah I. Woods Boyd.They had celebrated 28 years of marriage.
Jim had been employed by the Solanco School District as a custodian for 22 years.
He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church, Quarryville, and the Heaven 4 Shore Quartet.He was an evangelist and preacher.
He was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Paul and Ruth McVey Boyd.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 7 children: Joshua (Brandi) Whisman, Quarryville, Ray (Theresa) Whisman of Quarryville, Tony (Pamela) Whisman, Quarryville, James Boyd, Jr., Quarryville,Rebecca Jablonski, Elkton, MD, Denise Crowl, Elkton, MD, Samantha Boyd, Quarryville, 23 grandchildren, and his brother, Clifford (Grace) Boyd, Peach Bottom, PA. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Yvonne and Mary Alice Sluder.
The Funeral Service will be held at State Line Baptist Church, 560 Chrome Road, Rising Sun, MD on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor James Roland officiating.The burial will be in State Line Baptist Cemetery, Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM and at the church on Thursday from 1:00-2:00 PM.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O.
