James M. Boyd, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2015 at his home in Willow Street, PA. A nearly lifelong resident of Lancaster County, he served in the US Army during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Sergeant. He married June Haverstick in 1952 and had two sons, James Jr. and Scott. After June passed away in 1974, he later married Jane Kilefner. They were married for 35 years until Jane passed away in 2013.
For more than 25 years, Jim worked for Armstrong World Industries, concluding his career there as an advertising executive. A talented entrepreneur and ingenious designer, Jim then founded White Oak Display & Design, Inc. with his wife Jane. Together with his son Scott, they built their business into a highly regarded supplier of advertising displays. Jim was an avid boater and fisherman and loved spending time with friends and family at his beach house in Sea Isle City NJ. Jim was known for his wry sense of humor, generosity, and loyalty.
He is survived by his sons James M, Boyd, Jr. (husband of Andrea) of Glen Mills PA and Scott W. Boyd (husband of Nancy) of Holmes Beach FL. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Aubrey Dilger (wife of Trip) of Cresco PA, Derek Boyd (fianc of Katie Culligan) of Fairfax VA, Zachary Boyd (husband of Debbie) of Lancaster PA, and Jenna DeLong (wife of Drew) of Millersville PA. In his later years, he enjoyed the company of his dear friend, Mary Eichelberger of Willow Street PA.
A Memorial service will be held at Reynolds Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11:00AM with Rev. Dr. James R.
