Obituary

Jack E. Lindsley, Jr., age 84 of Ronks, went home to his savior on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. He was surrounded by his family at Lancaster General Hospital shortly after accepting Jesus and proclaiming, "Give God the Glory!" He was the husband of his sweetheart Caroline "Carol" Miller Lindsley for 63 wonderful years. So sweet in fact, that the song Sweet Caroline would always get him out of his seat to enjoy a dance with his loving wife.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Jack E. Sr., and Dorothy Rice Lindsley. He was a man that valued family first which always shone brightest during the annual family reunion he established decades ago. Grampsie, as he was affectionately called by his loving grandchildren/great-grandchildren, would often be easily discoverable at one of their local sporting events, dance recitals or enjoying an ice cream cone with them at any number of local shops. He was truly one-of-a-kind.

In his free time, Jack loved reading, golfing with friends, gardening and rooting on the Philadelphia Phillies/Eagles and Penn State Football. His favorite places on earth were his hometown of Holtwood, his backyard that hosted many reunions in Strasburg, the mountainous splendor of the Adirondacks and the always golf-ready Myrtle Beach. The memories and stories that his family and friends have of those places with him will be carried on through the generations.

Surviving besides his wife are 3 children; Wendy (wife of Eric Herr) of Gap, Connie (wife of David Bowman) of Ronks and Stephen (husband of Debbie) of Strasburg; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 4 siblings; Jean McFarland of Lancaster, Josephine "Chub" Unroe of Milton, Bill (husband of Leslie) of Gettysburg, and Gwen (wife of Jack Bleacher) of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a son; Ned (late husband of Cheryl), and his brother, Paul.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family.
