J. Wilbur Sollenberger

J. Wilbur Sollenberger, 78, formerly of Lancaster, died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Landis Homes, Lititz, PA where he resided since August 2014. He was the husband of Madeline Groff Sollenberger.Born in Mountville, PA, he was the son of the late Ivan and Emma Meck Huber Sollenberger.
Wilbur was a member of Forest Hills Mennonite Church, Leola, PA.
An insurance agent, he had been employed by State Farm Insurance Company.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, and going to his cabin "La Posada" along Pine Creek in Lycoming County.He also enjoyed the game of golf and had a keen interest in growing roses.
Active in his community, he served as an East Lampeter Township supervisor, was a member of Paradise Rotary Club, and served as a member and past president of Black Rock Retreat. He also belonged to the "Smoketown Do Nuthin' Club".
Surviving beside his wife Madeline are 3 children, J. Merle (Susan) Sollenberger, Gayle (Reuben) Smoker, Lynelle (Jeffrey) Wenger; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 4 siblings, Leroy (Mary Jane) Sollenberger, Glenn (Lois) Sollenberger, Doris Dellinger, Esther (Roy) Zimmerman; and a sister in law, Betty Hess Sollenberger.
He was preceded in death by a brother Parke E. Sollenberger.
There will be one viewing which will be held at Landis Homes, West Bethany Chapel, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, PA on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6:00-8:00PM
A celebration of life service will be held at Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00AM with a visitation at the church from 10:00AM until the time of service.
