Howard E. Shaub, age 91 of Willow Street, PA passed away at home on Sunday, June 7, 2026. He was the husband of Kathy A. Miller Shaub for 25 years. Father to 6 children: Fran Sipel, Pete (Shendy) Shaub, Pat Shaub, Sue (Steve) Sanderson, Jessica (Frank) Meyer and Matt (Cheryl) Shaub. “Pop Pop” to 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Rachel, grandson David and 9 brothers and sisters.
Born on April 1st, he was the son of Parke and Ruth Evans Shaub. Howard grew up in Lampeter, PA attending the West Lampeter High School where he was a star athlete playing soccer and basketball as well as riding horses at the Lampeter Fair. As a young man he volunteered with the Lampeter Fire Company, worked for Trojan Boat and spent many years working at Armstrong. Later in life he bowled, played softball and pickle ball. He also enjoyed playing cards, hunting, snowmobiling, riding his trike and cheering on the Phillies. He was a proud member of the Slumbering Goundhog Lodge and the Pequea Valley Sportsman Association. Every morning you would find Shaubie sitting at the counter of the Willow Street Diner.
Howard’s true love and passion was being an Auctioneer. Following in his uncle Simon Groff and father Parke Shaub’s footsteps, Howard spent his entire adult life on the auction block. Selling treasures big and small. “It’s a dandy”. “You’re not looking at that one.” Every Saturday for over 50 years you could find Shaubie on a porch, on a wagon, in a barn, wherever he needed to be to say those famous words, “first you buy, then you pay, then you take the goods away”. Nothing made him prouder than putting on his cowboy hat and bid calling at an auction. As Howard would say, “are you all in, are you all done?” Lancaster County auction legend Howard Shaub is all in and all done but his spirit lives on. “SOLD” but not forgotten. Internment will be private.
A tribute to Howard’s life will be held on Friday, July 24. Drop in from 4pm-8pm at the Hoffman Community Building at the Solanco Fair Grounds in Quarryville. All family, friends and auction goers are welcome to attend to honor and pay final respects to Shaubie.
