Henry R. Carr, Jr., age 78, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community.  He was the loving husband of Joan M. Funk Carr.  They celebrated 54 years of marriage.  He was born April 4, 1945, in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Henry R. Carr, Sr., and Eleanor MacDonald Smith Carr and step mother, Wilma Gemmill Carr.

He graduated from Willow Glen High School, San Jose, CA, in 1963.  He received his Associates Degree in Business Administration in 1999 as a member of Phi Betta for his high grades.  He served in the United States Navy for 4 years as Radarman 3rd Class Petty Officer.  He was honorably discharged after serving in the North Atlantic once, twice in the Mediterranean Sea with the 6th Fleet, and six times in the Caribbean.

Henry retired from Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) as an electronics technician for 28 years.  After retiring in 1995, he worked as a consultant for 16 years for various companies in the Northeast United States.  Henry is survived by his wife Joan, 2 sons; Michael, husband of Shannon Caine Carr, Nathan Carr, grandson, Nicholas Scott Carr, sister, Martha Carr, and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Magnuson.

He enjoyed computers, gathering weather data and the newest gadgets.  He was a member of the New Providence Circle of Friends and Strasburg Senior Citizens.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family with Pastor Dwight Lefever officiating.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Henry's memory to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
