Helen L. Townsley

Helen L. Townsley, 95, formerly of Drumore, passed away at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community on Saturday, August 31, 2024.  She was the wife of the late William J. Townsley, Sr. who died December 12, 1999.  Born in Quarryville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Florence Shirk Eckman.

Helen had been employed as a kitchen aide at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community for over 30 years. Helen was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was devoted to taking care of her family.

Surviving her are 6 children, William (Vicki)Townsley of Drumore, Robert (Dawn) Townsley of FL, Nancy (Glenn) Henry of Quarryville, Thomas (Lisa) Townsley of Peach Bottom, Connie (Wayne) Nichols of Peach Bottom, Brenda (John) Martin of Quarryville; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a daughter in law Diana Williams Townsley of Pequea.

She was preceded in death by her son Ronald "Ronnie" Townsley; and 3 siblings, Kathryn Longenecker, Robert Eckman and Melvin Eckman.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 1530 Slate Hill Road, Peach Bottom, PA on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11:00AM with Rev. Roger Kresge officiating.  A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery.
