Helen M. Happel, 97 went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Willow Valley Retirement Community where she was under the care of Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster. Born in Drumore Township, she was the daughter of the late John G. and Katheryn Drumm Farmer and the wife of Walter Happel who preceded her in death in 1992.
Helen graduated from Drumore High School and Preston Retreat Maternity Hospital in Philadelphia following High School. Upon her graduation she was employed by the Robinson family of Philadelphia for 32 years during which time she resided in Narberth, PA. The Robinson children, Nina, wife of the late Barry Vitow, Villanova, PA; Lisa, wife of Robert Segal of Wynnewood, PA & Linda, wife of David Groverman of Blue Bell, PA were the joy of her life and the source of her greatest pride. Even after her retirement and return to Lancaster, she maintained a close relationship with their families and was an influence in the early lives of their seven children.
Helen was a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Rawlinsville Camp and of BUMC, Holtwood, PA. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and cooking. Helen is survived by seven nieces and one nephew and 23 grand nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen's memorial service at Conestoga UMC, 71 Sand Hill Road, Conestoga, PA on Thursday, July 2 at 11:00 am with a visitation time from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Traditional burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to; Bethesda UMC,1086 Hilldale Road, Holtwood, PA 17532 or Rawlinsville Camp Meeting Association, 475 Clearfield Road, Holtwood, PA 17532.
