Gordie Mellinger

Gordie Mellinger, age 85 of Quarryville, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. He was the husband of Ruth Denlinger Mellinger. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Alvin and Edna Denlinger Mellinger. Gordie was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church where he served as a youth advisor and as a Trustee. He worked for High Steel for 45 years.  He also enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, and going to the cabin. Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Dawn wife of Ryan Meck of Winter Hill, PA, 3 children: Kirsten wife of Donovan Weaver of Strasburg, Kayla wife of Cole Garver of Strasburg, Carter Meck of Strasburg, 2 great grandchildren: Rhett and Callie Weaver, and a sister Mardell Mellinger of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by 2 siblings: Joanne and Ron. A celebration of life will take place from Strasburg Mennonite Church, 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA 17579, on Thursday, December 12th at 2:30 p.m.There will be a time to greet the family following the Celebration of Life service. Private interment will take place in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Strasburg Mennonite Benevolent Fund.
