Glen R.
Siegrist
May 19, 1933 – August 1, 2024
Glen R. Siegrist resided in his earthly home in Ronks for his entire 91 years, but on the morning of August 1, 2024, the Lord called him to his eternal home in heaven.
Glen was the husband of the late Pearl "Weasie" Hershey Siegrist, who passed away on December 28, 2021. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Emanuel & Ruth Ressler Siegrist.
Glen spent his life dedicated to serving the people in his community. At age 17, he joined the Hand in Hand Fire Company in Bird in Hand, and became a lifelong member, serving as a tanker driver for decades before serving as a Fire Policeman into his late 80's. Along with his late wife, he owned and operated Siegrist Plumbing. Glen was very well known throughout the community for his plumbing and electrical knowledge and was relentless in his commitment to his customers for over 50 years. As a member of Hershey Mennonite Church, Glen served as a Trustee for many years, plowing snow, doing maintenance and addressing a multitude of plumbing needs. No matter the time, the place or the weather, Glen was always ready and willing to address a need.
He was loyal to Chevy trucks and John Deere tractors. During the rare times when he wasn't working, he was most content putzing around his barn and garages where he enjoyed collecting Winross trucks, restoring pedal tractors and working on vehicle restoration projects with his son. He loved old hymns and gospel music. His love for the Lord sustained him daily, especially in his last year as he struggled with pain in his aging body.
Surviving are 4 children: Glenda L. Siegrist wife of Loren Hostetter of Harrisonburg, VA, Jeffrey E. husband of Vaunda Sult Siegrist of Ronks, Dawn D. wife of Brian Waltman of Gordonville, Sharon K. wife of Kenneth Dunkle of Emmaus, PA, 16 grandchildren: Patrice, Kara, Hannah, Liesl, Jeffrey, Kyle, Cody, Erica, Matthew, Megan, Malia, Micah, Justin, Collin, Brendan and Owen, 8 great grandchildren: Brooke, Claire, Jade, Madison, Johanna, Hailey, Logan and Luke. Also surviving is a sister Lois Kreider of New Holland. He was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren: Molly, Madison, Mitchell Waltman and a brother Elvin Siegrist.
Funeral service will take place at the Hershey Mennonite Church, 401 Hershey Church Road, Kinzers, PA, on Wednesday, August 7th at 11 a.m. with Pastors Joe Lab and Ken Nafziger officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. There will be a viewing at the church on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
