George A. Welsh, Jr.

George A. Welsh, Jr., age 91 of Coatesville, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. He was the loving husband of Lillian Sensenig Welsh for 68 years. Born in West Chester, he was the son of the late George A. Sr. and Francis Smith Welsh. George attended Highland Baptist Church in Parkesburg. He graduated from Coatesville Area High School. George honorably served in the United States Air Force. He worked for PennDOT starting out as a laborer and retiring as a road supervisor. George was a self taught man and became very skilled at building model boats, drawing, painting, vegetable gardening and raising his own beef. He enjoyed watching western and old war movies, reading, feeding and watching the birds and doing word, jigsaw and sticker puzzles. George was a prayer warrior and he did all he could to take care of his family. Surviving him besides his wife Lillian are 6 children; Rosalie Welsh of Coatesville, Gladys Barcz of Reading, Kathryn “Kathy” wife of Tim Hersom of Hampton, VA, Dale, husband of Dee Welsh of Morgantown, Joy, wife of Jim Huff of Coatesville and Warren, husband of Frankie Welsh of Castlewood, VA, 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a brother; Richard, husband of Kathy Welsh of FL. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Sharon, late wife of Randy Davis, husband of Karen Davis of West Chester, and a sister, Elouise. 

A funeral service will take place at Highland Baptist Church, 1 East Highland Road, Parkesburg, on Saturday, September 19th at 12 p.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Jack Crans will be officiating. A private interment will be held in the Philadelphia Memorial Park.
