F. Janet Boyette Shay, 93, of Willow Valley Square and formerly of Drexel Hill and Strasburg died Tuesday, July 17, 2018.
She was a servant of the Lord and had a strong faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.
Janet was widowed twice, her first husband C. Edward Boyette died October 31, 1987 and her second husband, Charles W. Shay died November 30, 2009.She was born in West Philadelphia, the daughter of the late Edwin William and Florence Emma Cave Loag.
While living in Drexel Hill, she had been employed as a private secretary for the Fort Howard Paper Company, and as a Library Aide at Glen Acres School.She then was employed by the Presbyterian Ministers Fund.
Janet's life revolved around the church.She was a member of West Chester Presbyterian Church where she served as clerk of session, served as Moderator of Donegal Presbytery, and was on Presbyterian Women.Moving to Strasburg, she joined First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, where she served as an elder and taught adult Sunday school.
An active community member, she served on the Chester County Auxiliary, and the Willow Valley Auxiliary -Welcoming Committee. She also volunteered at the Strasburg Railroad and was a member of the Strasburg Historical Society.
Janet was active in Bible studies, enjoyed knitting, traveling, gardening and playing bridge and cards.
Surviving her are two daughters, Karen (Bill E.) Hamlin, II of Mountain Top, PA, Janet (Karl F.) Muller of Williamsburg, VA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandsons; a sister Barbara Taylor of Coatesville; and a nephew and several nieces.
A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 1:00PM at Willow Valley North, 600 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA.An informal visitation will follow.Interment will be private in Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery.Kindly Omit Flowers.Contributions may be made in Janet's memory to Hospice and Community Care, P.O.
