Pastor Gene Errickson, age 86 of Lancaster, PA, passed away at Neffsville Nursing and Rehabilitation on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was born in Trenton, NJ, son of the late Fuller "Red" & Margaret Welsh Erickson. He was the husband of Gail Hamblet Errickson, with whom he celebrated 34 years of marriage. He graduated from St. Bernard's Seminary of Rochester, NY in 1964 and Fordham University School of Social Services in 1984 with a MSW Degree. He served 11 years in the Catholic church and 36 years doing social work in the addictions field. In 2004, he came back into the ministry in the Methodist Church. He served at Jackson United Methodist Church in Jackson NJ and Memorial United Methodist Church in Neptune City NJ. He served at St. John's United Methodist Church from 2011-2020. From 2010-2016 he worked at the Naaman Center for drug and alcohol addiction. Surviving besides his wife are 2 children: Amy Dacy of Lancaster, Brian Errickson of Lancaster, 3 grandchildren: Zachary Canfield fiancé of Keely, Joshua Canfield and his girlfriend, Brionna, Emma Stauffer and her husband, Shawn and 2 great granddaughters: Aubrey and Maya. He is also survived by his niece, Noreen Reilly of Nevada, his 2 cousins: Kathleen McGowan and her son, David Shinn, and Joanann McCormack and his adopted family, "The Beilers" of Strasburg. He was preceded in death by 2 siblings: John Monaghan and Delores "Dolly" McGowan. A memorial service will take place from St. John's United Methodist Church, 3001 Lincoln Highway East, Gordonville, PA 17529, on Saturday, July 25th at 11 am. There will be a time to greet the family from 9:30-11 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gene's honor to the Intercourse United Methodist Church to either the Mission's Fund of the Memorial Fund.
