Ernest "Ernie" S. Lantz

Ernest S. "Ernie" Lantz, age 94, of Coatesville, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at home.  He was the husband of the late Anna Mary Mumma Lantz who died August 17, 2016.  Born in Chester County, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Mamie Stoltzfus Lantz.  He was a long time member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church and also attended Calvary Monument Bible Church.  Ernie was a retired farmer who enjoyed hunting, the mountains, family gatherings and providing transportation to the Amish Community.  He is survived by 4 children: Dale husband of Alison Cooke Lantz of Fruitland, ID, James husband of Carol Engel Lantz of Parkesburg, Diane wife of Bill Umble of Gap, David husband of Natalie Cadman Lantz of Coatesville, 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his 11 siblings: Minerva McGinnis, Melvin Lantz, Marian Mattson, Gordon Lantz, Roma Reel, Leona Stone, and 5 infants siblings.  The family would like to thank the team of caregivers who cared for Ernie in his final days.

Funeral service will take place at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 549 Swan Road, Atglen, on Friday, January 30 at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Pastors Chris Lenhart and Mike Clemmer officiating.  Interment in the Calvary Monument Church Cemetery, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, will take place on Friday at approximately 2:45.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tel Hai Camp at https://www.telhaicamp.org/donate .
