Elwood S Spangler

Elwood S. Spangler, age 80 of Paradise, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021, at the Lancaster General Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Tena Group Spangler who passed away on December 21, 2016.  Born in Windsor, PA, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Dessell Oats Spangler.  He was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church.  Elwood honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He later became a crane operator for Lukens Steel for 50 years.  In his free time, Elwood loved gardening, tending his rose bushes and his yard, listening to country music, tinkering with cars and John Deere tractors, and riding Triumph Bonnevilles.  Surviving are 2 children: Shane E. husband of Kim Kunkle Spangler of Paradise, and Sonya E. wife of Eric Rineer of Lancaster, and 3 grandchildren: Taylor "Maddy" Spangler, Allison "Ally" Spangler, and Hunter Rineer.  He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Maxine Killingsworth, Arbara Lane, and Audrey Asper.

A funeral service will take place from the Calvary Monument Cemetery, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, PA, on Thursday, May 27th at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Jim Davis will be  officiating.  Seating will be limited so please feel free to bring your own chairs.
