Elvin E. Siegrist, 80, of Leola, (formerly of Strasburg), passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 21, 2017 following a lengthy illness.He was lovingly cared for by his devoted wife E. Jane (Witmer) Siegrist with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage on October 12, 2016.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Emanuel and Ruth (Ressler) Siegrist.Elvin graduated from Reisch School of Auctioneering in 1978 and was a partner in Miller & Siegrist Auctioneers, LLC for 40 years.He also auctioneered at Leola Produce Auction for 24 years and many benefit auctions including MCC Relief Sale in Harrisburg.He was a lifetime honorary member of Pennsylvania Auctioneer's Association and Strasburg Fire Co. No. 1 where he served as Fire Police.Elvin loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Stumptown Mennonite Church where he served as a trustee. Elvin's hobbies included spending time at his cabin, hunting, traveling, and shepherding sheep.
Surviving along with his wife are three daughters, Judy wife of Marlin Smoker of Strasburg, June wife of Jeff Hollinger of Leola, Rhonda wife of Bernard Nissley of Mount Joy; five grandsons, Todd (Jennifer) Smoker, Anthony Smoker, Eric (Leah) Hollinger, Chad (Vanessa) Hollinger, and Justin Nissley; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Glen Siegrist husband of Pearl Louise; and a sister Lois wife of Gerald Kreider.
The family would like to thank Landis at Home caregivers and the Stumptown church family for all the support, love and care given to Elvin.
Funeral Services will be held at Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Road, Bird-in-Hand, PA on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11:00AM. Family and friends are invited to attend viewings at the church on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00PM and again on Thursday from 10:00AM until the time of service.
Contributions may be made in Elvin's memory to Stumptown Benevolent Fund or to the Mennonite Central Committee, 21 South 12th Street, Akron, PA 17501.
