Elmer H. Arment

Elmer H. Arment, age 91 of Gap, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center. He was the husband of Nancy Jacobs Arment whom he loved dearly. He was born in East Lampeter to Clarence and Emma Hartman and raised by George and Esther Harkins Arment. Elmer was a member of Pequea Presbyterian Church where he previously served as a trustee, an elder and took care of building and grounds maintenance. He worked for Skyline Homes for 30 years before working for Redman Homes and then Miller Structures where he retired. Elmer honorably served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. In his free time, he enjoyed silhouette competitive shooting, flower gardening and planting various fruit trees and bushes. Surviving him besides his wife Nancy are 4 children; Donald J., husband of Brenda Dickel Arment of Intercourse, David F., husband of Peggy Brazee Arment of Stevens, Jill L., wife of Guy Wilson of Stevens, and Kenneth A., husband of Tonya Wallace Arment of NC, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and 1 sister, Esther “Dolly” Swift. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Douglas Arment, a foster sister, Edna Arment Drasher and 13 siblings. 

A funeral service will take place at Pequea Presbyterian Church, 273 Cambridge Road, Gap, on Thursday, September 17th at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Elmer’s honor to Pequea Presbyterian Church, 273 Cambridge Road, Gap, PA 17527.
