Elizabeth G. Carter

Elizabeth G. Carter went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at her home after a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Agustus C. Giffing and Helen M. Swayne Giffing. Elizabeth was the wife of the late James F. Carter . Elizabeth grew up in the Cochranville area and attended Cochranville School. She was a member of New Providence Baptist Church for 41 years, and served as a deacon's wife for 15 years. Elizabeth taught Sunday School for 28 years. She worked at Lincoln University as a caretaker in the President's building for 31 years. In her spare time she loved to go visit the shut in members of the church and helped with the church functions. Elizabeth liked to do word finds and she loved to be with her family. She survived by one daughter Roxanne Mitchem wife of Gordon Mitchem; four grandchildren Rachael Broderick wife of Christopher Broderick of Kirkwood, PA, Sarah Mitchem fiancee of Evan Hauber Paradise PA, Dennis Mitchem fiance to Megan McKnight of New Holland, PA, and Gordon Mitchem II of Paradise, PA; and three great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband James F. Carter in June of 1998, a son Dennis F. Carter in 1985; three brothers Allen Giffing, Ronald Giffing and William Giffing.

Services will be at New Providence Baptist Church, 2411 Beaver Valley Pike, New Providence, PA on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 1:00PM with Pastor James Roland officiating. A viewing will be held at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Lancaster PA.
