Elaine R. Updegrove

Elaine R. Updegrove, age 95 of Shillington, PA, passed away at Garden Spot Village of New Holland, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.  She was the wife of the late George S. Updegrove who passed away in 2001.  She was born in Reading on May 23, 1929.  Daughter of the late James G. & Hannah (Paul) Musser.  She was a member of the Grace Bible Fellowship Church of Reading since the age of 12, where in the past she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and sang in the choir.  She graduated from Reading High School class of 1947.   Elaine worked in the Planning Department of Berkshire Knitting Mills for 14 years.  She was an avid bird watcher, enjoyed walking, reading, sudoku and Jumble puzzles.  She was an avid Phillies fan.  She enjoyed going out to lunch with her longtime childhood friends and co-workers of the "Berky".   Surviving are two children: Timothy D. husband of Vivian (Young) Updegrove of Allentown, Lisa L. wife of David E. Blank of Atglen, 7 grandchildren: Benjamin, Alexander, Jonathan, Daniel, Elizabeth, Matthew and Katie, 4 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by 5 siblings:  Erma Dreisbach, Grayce Seip, LaRue Young, Lloyd and Daniel Musser.

Funeral service will take place at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 1128 Hampden Blvd., Reading, PA, on Tuesday, October 15th at 11 a.m., with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Rev. Randall Grossman will be officiating.  Interment will take place following the service in the Fleetwood Cemetery at approximately 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Reading and Berks County, 1307 Good St., Reading, PA  19602.
