Earl E. Toms

Earl E. Toms, 93, of Broadmoor Drive Willow Street, PA went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community.He and his wife, Jennie E. Weitzel Toms celebrated 68 years of marriage this past June.Born in Landisville, he was the son of the late Harry Russell and Oma Hilda Himes Toms.
Earl retired as a shift supervisor in the floor plant warehouse and distribution center for Armstrong World Industries after 43 and half years of employment.He also worked as a substitute mail carrier for the Willow Street Post Office.
A US Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater during WWII as a Seaman First Class. Along with his military service he was a member of the American Legion Post 56, Lititz and the Destroyer Sailor's Association.
He was a life-long and active member of New Providence Church of God where he served as a deacon, elder, and on church council.
Earl enjoyed playing miniature golf, was an avid the Philadelphia Phillies fan, and in his younger years pitching in the Southern End Church Softball League, Fairview.
Surviving beside his wife Jennie are four daughters, Patricia L. (Patty) wife of Pastor J. Thomas Lefever of Buck, Susan L. wife of Daniel Hill of Lancaster, Shirley A. (Shirl) wife of Harry Bortzfield of Strasburg, Barbara E. (Barb) Feeman of Strasburg; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 step grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter and seven siblings.

Funeral services will be held at New Providence Church of God, 269 Cinder Road, New Providence, PA on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 11:00AM with his grandson Pastor Dwight Lefever officiating.Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park.
