E. Thomas
Jackson
February 13, 1942 – March 21, 2026
E. Thomas Jackson of Lancaster passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Drumore, he was the son of the late Cecil and Virginia (Griest) Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Jackson of 60 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, James.
Upon graduation from Solanco in 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Korea for 18 months before returning to the States to complete his service. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a welder for Heil Tank, maintenance mechanic at Mohawk Rubber, and eventually retired as a field technician at Reliable Electric.
He was a member of Rough & Tumble, Waterloo Boys, SVGTO Club, American Legion, and TCA.
To say he was an enterprising young man is putting it mildly. From selling fishing worms at a penny apiece when he was 4 years old to working on area farms before and after school to buy his first bicycle and car.
His interests were so wide and varied, it was hard to keep up with him. His greatest passion was speed, namely, boats and muscle cars.
He was the proverbial jack of all trades.
Unfortunately, accidents and surgeries over the years took a toll on his ability to enjoy speed, but he did not give up. He enjoyed more sedate activities like riding trains across the country. Wherever a train would go, he wanted to be there.
He met challenge after challenge, but now the race is over, and for those of us who loved him dearly, his smile, sense of humor, and love will truly be missed.
A funeral service will take place from Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Rd., Quarryville, PA 17566, on Friday, March 27th, at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Mt. Zion U.M. Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
