Douglas J. Barr

Douglas Jefferson Barr, age 86, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026 at Hamilton Arms Center in Lancaster. He was the husband of the late Joanne Alice Barr, who he was married to for 39 years until her passing. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Elvin and Mary Ruth Drennen Barr.

He graduated from Manheim Township, class of 1958. He worked for RCA for over 40 years. He was a civil war enthusiast. He loved collected, researching and even took place in reenactments at Gettysburg. He and Joanne enjoyed antique shopping and visiting Gettysburg in their free time.

He is survived by 3 children: Jeff (Donna) Barr of Lititz, Sandra (Ralph) Southard of State College, Thomas R. Barr of Germany, 2 step-daughters: Kimberly (Jim) Lawson of Landisville, Stacy (Kyle) Williams of Lancaster, and 10 grandchildren. Doug was one of 11 children, and is also survived by a sister Mary Testerman of Willow Street and brother, Robert Schultz of MI.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.
