James Douglas "Doug" Byler, 58, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2025. Doug will be deeply missed by his three sons, Brandon, Bryce, and Cameron, whom he loved beyond measure. He is also survived by his parents, James and Darlene Byler, his brother Chad (Eileen), niece Courtney, and nephew David. Doug was the owner and broker at Hostetter Realty in Gap, where his dedication and professionalism earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Over the years, he served on the Lancaster County Association of Realtors Board of Directors, as well as numerous committees within the organization. He also served as a State Director for the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and was honored to be elected President of the Lancaster County Association of Realtors in 2006. A proud graduate of Penn State University, Doug also completed the Realtor's Institute (GRI) program, continually striving to learn and grow in his field. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Doug was known for his kind heart, easy laugh, and love of life. He was an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Dallas Cowboys, and loved his Philadelphia Phillies. More than anything, he cherished the time spent traveling the world with his sons, creating memories that will last forever. We will have a drop in visitation for all his friends and family on Tuesday, November 18th from 3:00-6:00 pm at Calvary Monument Bible Church, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, PA. There is no service following the visitation. Doug's warmth, humor, and love for his friends and family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
