Our beloved Dorothy E. McVey of Nottingham, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman J. Mcvey in 2019, and her parents Mercie and Roman Stanley. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Wayne McVey (Michelle) of Elizabethtown and Scott McVey (Tracy) of Rawlinsville; 3 grandchildren, Taylor Hench (Tyler), Dustin McVey (Sarena) and Hunter McVey (Alex Ann) and 7 great grandchildren. Siblings; Sue Breeding, Jim Stanley, George Stanley, Betty Minasian, Hazel Kent, Barbara Tyler, Gladys Hinkley, Paul Stanley. Three of Dorothy's siblings are deceased.

Dorothy graduated from Solanco Highs School in 1957. Her professional career started at the Bell Telephone Company. After the birth of her two sons, Dorothy decided to stay closer to her boys and worked in the cafeteria at Little Britain Elementary School. She later retired from Martins Lumber Company in Little Britain.  After retirement, Dorothy discovered a passion for crafting and participated in many local craft shows. She later self-taught herself how to make origami flowers and proudly gave them away as a token of her appreciation to visitors and caregivers that stopped in to see her. Dorothy also shared a love for bowling with her husband, Norm, and participated in several bowling leagues over the years.

Dorothy lived life to the fullest and enjoyed the simple things in life.  She touched the lives of many with her outgoing friendly personality, witty sense of humor, warmth, creativity, and generous nature.  She never complained and no matter what challenges she faced in her own life she was always more concerned with helping others in their time of need. We will never stop loving you and remembering the life you shared with us.

An informal service to honor and celebrate Dorothy will be held on March 26, 2026 at Reynolds and Shivery Funeral Home, 144 E. State Street, Quarryville starting at 4 pm, with a visitation from 3 pm until the time of service.  We invite family and friends to join us in remembering and celebrating her life.
