Dorothy J. "Dottie" Brown, 102, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community where she resided since 1998.
Born in Lancaster on March 31, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Leiper G. and Ila Bradley Jackson.
Married to Veryl E. Brown for 62 years, she was then widowed in 1998 at his passing.
She was a lifelong member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church.
Dottie lived most of her life in Little Britain Township.A farmer's wife, she had an affinity to all that represents farming.She had a love for animals. Her mixed terrier "Missy" was dear to her, and she took in and cared for baby pigs, especially the runts of the litter, nursing them back to health.
She also had a green thumb, growing a vegetable garden, from which she canned and preserved the fruits of her bounty, and a flower garden, having a weakness for African violets, which she found very particular and beautiful.
Surviving her is a son Dr. W. Ray (Barbara) Brown of Doylestown; a grandson, Jeffrey M (Jennifer) Brown of Peach Bottom; a sister Marian Wilson of Quarryville; and a brother Robert Jackson of Elkton, MD.
She was preceded in death by 5 siblings, H. Andrew Jackson, Horace Jackson, Anne Weaver, Hazel Walton and Sarah Myers.
A memorial service will be held at Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Church Road, Peach Bottom, PA on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 2:00PM with Rev. Thomas P. Milligan officiating.
