Donna J. Simmons, age 90, formerly of Myerstown, Christiana, PA,  Delaware and Orlando, FL, passed away at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown on Saturday, July 27, 2024.  She was born in Lancaster County, daughter of the late S. Charles & Esther Virtue Rodgers.  She was the wife of the late Lewis I. Simmons with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage with on September 8, 2021.  Graduate of the former Christiana High School class of 1950.  While living in Delaware in 1980, she worked at Candy Kitchen and the Ferry Terminal, Moving to Florida she worked at Oneida Factory Store and SAS Shoe Store.  She attended several hundred spring training games with Lew.  She was a member of Latta Memorial Presbyterian Church of Christiana.  Surviving are 2 children: William L. husband of Victoria Jones Simmons of Trussville, AL, and Mary Lynn wife of Howard Spreen of Lititz, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son Donald B. Simmons, 3 siblings: Lester N. Rodgers, Harvey C. Rodgers and Ruth A. Engel.

A memorial service will take place at the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA on Thursday, August 1st, at 11 a.m. with a calling time from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Pastor Beth Engel will be officiating.  Interment will take place in the Sadsbury Friends Burial Grounds.
