Donald W. Smith

Donald W Smith age 78 of Lancaster passed away on June 2 2026. He was born in Ashland PA son of the late Carl and Mary Zealburg Smith. Donald proudly served in the United States Army as a sharpshooter. He received multiple medals during his service including, Purple Heart, National Defence Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device 1960, Combat Infantryman Badge (1st award). After serving he was active in Vietnam Veterans against the war. He enjoyed American history, especially the Civil War and enjoyed going to Gettesburg and walking the surrounding battlefields. He played the drums and was a member of the Reilly Raiders Drum and bugle corps. A loving devoted family man he is survived by his three children: Sean husband of Vicki Smith of New Providence, Nathan husband of Jennifer Smith of Paradise, Megan Smith of Arlee Montana, two grandchildren Evan and Brynn, and 3 siblings. Eileen wife of Michael Mento of Brandamore PA, Jake husband of Robin Smith of Martinsville VA, AnnMary Mattson- widowed of Honeybrook, and longtime companion Barbara Nabreski Schmock. He was preceded in death by a Brother Charlie Smith.
