Donald L. Mcvey

Donald L. McVey, age 92 of New Providence, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehab.  He was the companion of Ardythe M. Gaus for 54 years before her passing on January 14, 2016.  Born in Colora, MD, he was the son of the late Roman and Ethel Dawson McVey.  Don worked his early years as a farmer and later for Groff's Scrap Yard.  In his free time, he loved going to Rough & Tumble, tinkering with things by taking them apart and putting them back together, and listening to his nephew Ronnie play blue grass music.  Don was a strong, hardworking man who took great care of his family.  Surviving are 2 children; Tammy, wife of Tim Adams of Holtwood, Donnie Gaus of New Providence, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Gaus, and a sister, Linda "Tootie" Brown.  A graveside service will take place at the Georgetown United Methodist Cemetery, 1070 Georgetown Road, Paradise, on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don's honor to Compassus Hospice Care, 2101 Oregon Pike, Suite 301, Lancaster, PA 17601.
