Della Mae Frantz, age 97, of Smyrna, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital.  She was the loving wife of the late Harold Frantz who passed away on August 12, 2017.  They had shared 70 years of married life.  Della Mae was the daughter of the late John W. Jr. and Della Mae Summers Thompson.  She was a member of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church.  She graduated from the former Christiana High School and Scott High School.  She had worked at Lukens Steel in Coatesville, Millprint in Christiana, and Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster for over 30 years.  She and Harold worked at The Yuletide, the family Christmas shop, for 20 years.

Della Mae was a lovely woman with an easy smile.  She found satisfaction and purpose in doing for herself and found joy in the everyday.  She took delight in her family, friends, and neighbors.  She enjoyed RV camping, gardening, and always had flowers on her kitchen table.  She relied on her faith.  Della Mae lived in the same 2-mile patch of beautiful countryside all her long and fulfilling life.

Surviving is her beloved son, Randon T. "Randy" Frantz, husband of Beth Davis of Parkesburg, 2 step-grandchildren, and 4 step-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her siblings:  John W. Thompson III and Marie Reynolds.

Funeral services will take place at Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, on Saturday, April 6, 2024.  Visitation begins at 10am, followed by the service at 11am.  Interment will take place in Conestoga Memorial Park, 95 Second Lock Road, Lancaster, at approximately 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, P.O.
