David J. "Pappy" Comfort, 75, of Holtwood, PA, went home to his Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2014.He was the husband of Joan L. Gleisner Comfort.They had celebrated 56 years of marriage.
David had retired as a maintenance supervisor for the Mt. Joy Vo-Tech.Following retirement, he was working for Lancaster Newspapers, delivering the New Era.David was a member of New Providence Church of God.
He enjoyed golf, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren.
David was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Jenkins Comfort.
In addition to his wife ,he is survived by 4 daughters; Kathy, wife of Christopher Quinn of Cleveland, OH, Karen Durand and her companion Jon Fernandez, of Virginia Beach, VA, Kori wife of Daniel Bowers of Quarryville, Kristi wife of Brandon Miller of New Providence, 12 grandchildren,6 great grandchildren,2 brothers:Ronald husband of Sally Comfort of Lancaster, Charles husband of Marcella Comfort of Longview, TX, his sister, Betty wife of Wes Hughes of Coconut Beach, FL,and his faithful canine companion, Holly. He was predeceased by a sister, Joann Current.
The Funeral Service will be held at New Providence Church of God, 269 Cinder Road, New Providence, PA on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dwight Lefever officiating.The burial will be in New Providence Church of God Cemetery.Visitation will be held at New Providence Church of God on Friday from 1:00-2:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or New Providence Church of God.
