David S. Herr

David S. Herr, 87, formerly of Strasburg, died on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Landis Homes where resided for the past 6 years.He and his wife June Y. Cramer Herr celebrated 64 years of marriage.Born on January 8, 1930 in Hanover, and raised in New Oxford and Strasburg, PA he was the son of the late Christ E. and Margaret M. Mann Herr.
Dave retired from Galen S. Spickler, Inc. in Elizabethtown as a truck driver, hauling both live poultry and drinking water.His CB handle was "Stargazer". He also worked for Martin M. Brendle, Strasburg, in the live and dressed poultry business, and W. C. Mellinger & Sons, Leola as a truck driver. Dave also had a poultry stand at the West End Market in Lancaster.
He was a 64 year member of IOOF Lodge #361, Strasburg and a 54 year member of the Artisan's Order of Mutual Protection.
He enjoyed going to the mountains, gas engines shows and public auctions. He was a collector of sleds, toy tractors, and antiques. While living at Landis Homes, he enjoyed riding his scooter with his friend "Pud" around the campus.
Surviving beside his wife is a sister Carrie (Albert) Arnold of Lancaster; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Christian E. Herr and his twin brother, Henry Herr and a sister Florence Bender.
