David E.
Fisher
May 31, 1942 – October 7, 2025
David E. Fisher, age 83 of Intercourse, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late John S. and Barbara Esh Fisher. He was a member of Faith EC Church and attended Worship Center and Petra Church.
Dave "Proddy" Fisher was a beloved uncle and friend to many. He loved hunting, golfing, visiting his vacation home in Sarasota FL.,and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. In his earlier years he spent many hours working at his produce stand at Burtonsville Farmer's Market in Maryland, later in life he enjoyed being a taxi driver for the "Joe Wengers", taking them on trips and to their singings. His weekly highlights included gathering with friends on Monday night at Georgetown Restaurant and Tuesday night at New Holland Restaurant socializing and "solving the world's problems". He faithfully attended church, was a charter member of the Eastern Lancaster County Sertoma Club, an original member of the "Do Nothing" Club, and more recently a regular customer at The Village Cafe of Intercourse, where the employees made him feel like family.
To describe Dave… he was friendly, kind, & caring, had a big heart, and was a generous giver. He enjoyed life and had many people who cared about him, many of whom were intentional to stop and see him at Fairmount Nursing Home where he resided over the last few months. Thank you, Fairmount staff, for caring for him so well. When the time came for Dave's passing, he was surrounded by loved ones as he peacefully crossed over to meet Jesus. Upon arrival there, we know he was greeted by his loved ones who've gone before, and in leaving here, he will be dearly missed.
Surviving him are 5 siblings: Amos, husband of Anna Blank Fisher of Narvon, Omar, husband of Sally Ann Yoder Fisher of Lancaster, Salome Fisher of Lancaster, Barbara, wife of Aaron King of Lancaster and Reuben, husband of Rosella Rhodes Fisher of Manheim. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings: Jonathan late husband of Lizzie Ann Dienner Fisher of Bird in Hand, Anna (Reuben) Lantz Fisher, Henry late husband of Linda Stoltzfus Fisher of Lancaster and John S. Fisher Jr.
A funeral service will take place at Petra Church, 565 Airport Road, New Holland, on Monday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church hosted by Petra staff on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in the Petra Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made payable and mailed to the Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, 17601 with "Matthew 25 Project" on the memo line which is for local ministries.
