Daniel L.
Turney
November 17, 1951 – February 14, 2023
It is with great sorrow that the family of Daniel L. Turney announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, peacefully at his home. Dan celebrated 38 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Tammy L. (Harnish) Turney. The couple was blessed with three children: Caitlin (Scott) Blum of Denver, PA, Jennifer (George) McManus of Binghamton, NY, and Ryan (Maria Newswanger) Turney of Manheim, PA. In addition to his wife and children, Dan leaves behind five grandsons and a devoted brother, Mark "Orville" Turney of Denver, PA. Born November 17, 1951 to the late Henry B. Turney and Ruth M. (Barnhart, Turney) Tranelli, Dan grew up in the Pittsburgh suburb of Aliquippa, PA. His Black and Gold roots ran deep as a second-generation steel mill worker and lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Washington & Jefferson College and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh. Dan's inquisitive nature led him to live and work in the Marshall Islands and New England, eventually establishing a 35-year career as a Software Programmer at RR Donnelly & Sons in Lancaster, PA. Being a doting and loving grandfather to his five grandsons – Parker, Maxwell, Brodie, Elliott, and Henry – was the highlight of Dan's life. He could often be found tossing a football with the boys, cheering on the sidelines of their games, or snuggled up reading stories with them. Faith was a pillar that steadfastly guided Dan as he lived his life for the glory of God. He attended Keystone Church in Paradise and assisted in their tech department. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) in memory of Copper.
Funeral Services will be at the convenience of the family.
