Obituary

Clarence J. Groff, Jr., age 80 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center.  He was the loving husband of Josephine A. "Jo" Hoar Groff for 53 years before she passed away on January 11, 2021.  He was born in Lancaster and raised in Paradise by his late parents, Clarence Sr. and Miriam Groff.   He graduated from Pequea Valley High School where he played soccer.  Clarence honorably served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.  After his time in the Navy he worked for Johnson & Johnson in Lititz (formerly Warner-Lambert).  He attended St. Paul's Church in Elizabethtown and was a member of the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge No. 682 (Freemason) in Elizabethtown.  Clarence loved landscape gardening, exercising, watching Penn State Football and spending time with is family.  He was most well known as a "ringer" when playing horseshoes and other bakyard games.  He is survived by his daughter, Erica Myers, grandchildren, Kyle (Brittany) McNeil, Kristin McNeil, Eddie Myers, IV, Zoe Myers, and Kisiah Myers, great grandchildren, Gia Josephine Green, Lawson Josephine McNeil, and Giselle Lynn Green, and siblings, Violet Brackbill, Lloyd Groff, Arthur Groff, Charles Groff, Jeffrey Groff and Kevin Groff.  He was preceded in death by siblings, Beatrice Groff, Harold Groff, Richard Groff and Kenton Groff.

A casual viewing and visitation time will be held at St. Paul's Church, 398 N. Locust Street, Elizabethtown, on Thursday, April 10th from 6 to 8 p.m.  A celebration of life service will take place on Friday at the convenience of the family.
