Christian Ivan
Stoltzfus
May 6, 1947 – January 22, 2026
Christian Ivan Stoltzfus, "C. Ivan," passed peacefully at his farm in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, overlooking cherished fields and pasture. He grew up in Morgantown, PA, the son of Jonas K. and Anna Mary Stoltzfus. In his late teens, he spent two years in 1-W service, working at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida. His time there began lifelong roots and friendships within Sarasota, which became his second home.
Ivan was a farmer and auctioneer. He enjoyed the outdoors, farmland, and his beloved John Deere tractors. Always hardworking and a dreamer, he tinkered with many projects and hobbies through the decades at his farm and in Potter County. He created endless woodworking pieces, hunting stands, pond swings, and personal gifts. You could never tell Ivan he couldn't or shouldn't do something, because he would take it as a challenge and prove you wrong!
In his later years, he repeatedly shared his dream of driving across America on a John Deere tractor. Many smiled and shook their heads in disbelief, but as always, Ivan was determined to make it happen. He had always cared for veterans, first responders, and those in service to our country, and he felt it was important to combine the trip with a mission. In 2014, Ivan "putt-putted" his way across America on his beloved "Johnabilt" tractor, raising awareness and support for those who have served our country. This was one of three cross-country trips. Ivan always said these were some of his greatest years, experiencing the rolling land and countryside and meeting new people around every bend.
The latter half of Ivan's years was sadly fraught with physical pain and limitations. Despite chronic medical struggles, he still loved storytelling, laughing, fellowship, and meeting new friends. He will be remembered for his constant jokes, gags, and embellished adventures. Most importantly, he loved Jesus, and although disappointed that life on earth was to be a bit shorter than he wished, he grew excited to leave this world of pain and struggle and journey to his Heavenly home.
We will miss Ivan, his sparkling blue eyes, and his big smile. Fittingly, he passed while his Johnabilt "putt-putted" outside the window. He commented recently that he hoped there would be John Deere tractors in heaven. Even if there are not, we share in his joy of knowing God's faithfulness, redemptive forgiveness, and promise of a place far better and more beautiful than this earth.
A private graveside service will be held in Pennsylvania, with a public memorial in Sarasota, Florida (date to be determined). In place of flowers, gifts may be made to Operation Second Chance in his memory. Thank you, everyone, for your part in his life and the memories made.
