C. Allen Bishop, age 79 of Gap, went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2020. He was the husband of Sandra Phillips Bishop with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late Lesly and Elizabeth Tipton Bishop. Al is a retired Master Sergeant from the US Army. He later worked as the Campus Director of Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia and a Hospice of Savannah volunteer. He was a member of Petra Church in New Holland, PA. Al enjoyed dogs, airplanes, and really anything that flew.
Al graduated from Fern Creek Kentucky High School in 1959, joined the US Navy that Summer and three years later transferred into the US Army. While in the Army he served in Vietnam, Turkey, Chitose Japan and Berlin Germany. Upon retiring from the Army he completed his education and earned the following degrees:
Associate of Arts from Saint Leo College
Bachelor of Arts from Saint Leo College
Associate in Science from The University of the State of New York
Master of Education from Georgia Southern College
Al is survived by his wife, Sandra, 2 children: Ed Bishop (Maryanne) of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania and Julie Bishop (Mary Manning) of Hovland, Minnesota, and 3 grandchildren: Brandon Bishop (23), Faith Bishop (19), and Emily Bishop (14).
A private memorial service will take place at the convenience of the family with interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA, 17604.
