Anne E. "Betty" Groff, 83, of 247 River Road, Airville, PA passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the loving arms of her husband, Robert B. Groff, at Hospice and Community Care, Mt Joy, PA.They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
She was the daughter of the late Robert J. and MaryAnn Hyland Dickson.
Betty was a 1950 graduate of West Catholic High, Philadelphia.
She attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Quarryville, and previously St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pylesville, MD, andSt Peter & Paul Catholic Church in West Chester.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, gardening, crafts and singing in the church choir.
Betty was the wonderful mother to her six surviving children; 3 sons, Robert L. (Barbara) of Biglerville, Shawn P. (Cheryl) of West Chester, James D. of West Chester; 3 daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Lafferty of Elverson, MaryAnn Schmidt of Elkton, MD, Christina (Evan) Yoder and also surviving are her pride and joy, 22 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Hoguet of Downingtown.
Welcoming her at heaven's gate is her son Michael B. Groff; her 2 grandchildren, Michael L. Orsini, and Veronica Angel Groff; and her sisters Winifred Shields and Sarah O'Brien.
A viewing for the local community will be held at Reynolds Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc.,on Tuesday evening, Sept. 9th from 7-9:00 PM. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 8:30 A.M. until amass of christian burialat 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Highway, Quarryville, PAwith Rev. Robert Yohe as celebrant.Final commendation and farewell will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, West Chester, PA.
