Anna E. Metzler, 83, of Bunker Hill Road, Strasburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 9, 2014, at Lancaster General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.She was the wife of Ivan D. Metzler.They had celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Anna had worked side by side with her husband for many years in the family business, Metzler Mower Service.She had also worked for many years in the Strasburg Elementary School cafeteria.
Anna was a member of Refton Brethren in Christ Church, and was involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry.Anna was also an active volunteer at the Solanco Food Bank.She had been a member of the Strasburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life.
Anna was born in East Petersburg, PA, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence Myers Huber.
In addition to her husband, Anna is survived by 3 children; Donald Metzler of Strasburg, PA, Joann wife of Jeffrey Brubaker of Strasburg, PA, Patricia wife of Lloyd Reese, Jr. of Willow Street, PA, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren , and her sister Kathryn Rohrer of Lancaster, PA. She was predeceased by her son Glenn Metzler, brother, John Huber, and daughter-in-law Sara Rineer Metzler.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Refton Brethren in Christ Church, 110 Church Street, Refton, PA, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 12:30 P.M. with Pastor Michael Anderson and Pastor Kenneth Hershey officiating.Visitation will be held at Refton Brethren in Christ on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M -12:30 PM. A private traditional burial will be held at New Providence Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
