Anna Mary Groff, age 80, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026. She was the wife of Harold A. Groff and was born in Strasburg to the late Ben M. and Florence B. Lapp. Anna Mary, know by many as Ann, graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1964 and from LGH School of Nursing in 1967. Her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was central to her life, and she expressed her faith through a lifelong commitment to caring for others. She began her career as a nurse in hospitals and later served others as a caseworker for insurance companies. Whether through her work, her prayers, or the everyday ways she cared for those around her, she sought to share the love of Christ with her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Ann was a devoted wife to Harold for 54 years, faithfully walking beside him through every season of life. She supported him throughout his career and into retirement, sharing in his joys, standing with him through challenges, and remaining a steady source of love and encouragement through life’s ups and downs. Her faithful love for her husband was an expression of her love for the Lord and her desire to honor Him in her marriage. Ann treasured time with family and friends, whether gathering around the table for a holiday meal, sharing homemade treats and her beloved strawberry jelly, or going out to eat with friends. She loved singing in her church choir and was a devoted supporter of her grandchildren, taking joy in watching them share their gifts and talents in the classroom, on the athletic field, and on stage. Praying for her family and friends was also an important part of her life. It is difficult to capture in just a few words all that Ann meant to those who knew and loved her. Her faith, caring spirit, and love for her family and friends will be remembered with gratitude and affection. Her legacy is one of love and joyful service to God and others. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children: Melissa, wife of Eric Corneliusen of Williston, North Dakota, and Jeremy, husband of Erin Weidman Groff of Landisville; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael, who was the late husband of Dori Zook Groff of West Virginia, and three brothers: Lester, Earl, and Elmer Lapp.
